Vice-Chairman and Chair of Operations Committee
I trained as a doctor at Guy's Hospital, London and following GP training, moved with my family to South Norfolk, where I joined a small rural dispensing practice. I remained in this practice for 25 years, seeing all aspects of traditional family practice, including many home visits. During this time I became more interested in the psychological and social aspects of ill health and how it cannot be seen purely in physical terms.
After retiring I taught Consultation skills to medical students at UEA, realising that poor communication leads to many problems and that learning these skills can help with all aspects of life.
Since joining the Board I have learned more about social housing and the overlap between medical problems and environment, so that I will continue to use my broad range of experience to try to improve the quality of life for those who can benefit from the accommodation provided by Norwich Housing Society.
